Oswego County Drug Task Force Seize Approximately $1,222,410 In Illegal Drugs

On Monday (April 30), at approximately 4 p.m., investigators with the Oswego County Drug Task Force, with the assistance of the Oswego City Police Department, executed a narcotics related search warrant at the 300 building of 550 W. First St. in the city of Oswego. As a result of the search warrant execution, approximately 1,230 grams of Fentanyl, 324.3 grams of heroin and 62.1 grams of crack cocaine were seized, police said.

Juliet Aires Giglio, an English and creative writing faculty member at SUNY Oswego, and Mic-Anthony Hay, a senior journalism major Giglio has had in class, talk at Safe Haven Holocaust Refugee Shelter Museum in Oswego about locations for filming a documentary preserving the memories of two cousins who were sheltered there. It is one of many projects recently approved for funding for Faculty-Student Challenge Grants by the college's Scholarly and Creative Activities Committee.

State Police arrested Austin M. Baker, 20, from Central Square, today (April 30). He was charged with Sex Abuse 1st degree (D-felony), Forcible Touching (A-misdemeanor) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child (A-misdemeanor). The arrest stems from an incident that allegedly occurred at a residence in the town of West Monroe on or about November 11, 2017.

Cuomo Announces More Than $100 Million To Pave Roads Impacted By The Extreme Winter

Governor Andrew Cuomo today (April 30) announced more than $100 million in state funding to repave and enhance roadways impacted by the harsh weather this past winter. Remembering The First World War

This year marks the centennial of the end of World War I, making it the theme of this year’s Fort Ontario History Conference last weekend. Historians from across the U.S. and Canada spoke on various topics including the Armistice, the Remembrance Day poppy, and Canadian Army physician and poet John McCrae whose poem “In Flanders Fields” inspired the adoption of the poppy as the symbol of remembrance in Great Britain, Canada, the U.S., and other allied countries.

Burn Ban Still in Effect Throughout New York State

Oswego County Fire Coordinator Donald Forbes reminds county residents of the annual statewide ban on all open burning which began on March 16 and continues through May 14. “This is a high-risk period for fires throughout New York State,” said Forbes. “Despite recent snowfall, spring is not far off and outdoor fires will happen as tall grass, hay and brush dry.”

Museum Opens New Exhibition ‘Americans and the Holocaust’ – Featuring A Piece Of Oswego

Marking its 25th anniversary year, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum opened a new special exhibition, Americans and the Holocaust. It examines the motives, pressures and fears that shaped Americans’ responses to Nazism, war and the persecution and murder of Jews in Europe during the 1930s and ‘40s. Oswego, New York, is featured as part of the exhibition. A section of the fence was removed, treated, conserved, packaged and shipped to the curators at the U.S. Memorial Museum of the Holocaust in Washington DC.

Phoenix Man Charged With 4 Counts Of Rape

On Wednesday (April 25), sheriff’s deputies arrested Robert C. Henderson, 38, of 544 County Line Road, Phoenix, at 2:26 p.m. He was charged with four counts of third-degree rape, a class E felony; five counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor, and one count of third-degree sexual abuse, a Class B misdemeanor.
