New York’s electric system has the capacity to meet demand for electricity and the necessary operating reserves during extreme cold weather conditions through the 2017-2018 winter season, according to the New York Independent System Operator.
This morning (Dec. 5), the Board of Directors of the Port of Oswego Authority accepted the resignation of the POA Executive Director Zelko N. Kirincich.
On Monday (Dec. 4) at 12:16 p.m., sheriff’s deputies arrested Rodney McCormick Sr., 46, of 205 Middle Road, Apt. 27, Oswego (Scriba). He was charged with seven counts of first-degree sexual abuse, a class D felony, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor. He allegedly had sexual contact with the victim being less than 13 years of age.
On July 26, 1973, Martha Louise Allen was reported missing by her grandfather from their residence in Oneida Castle. He had last seen her on July 25 at approximately 8:30 a.m., when he left the residence to go to the Syracuse area for the day. On August 17, 1973, a boater on Black Creek, in the area of Verona Beach State Park, located a partially decomposed female body in the water. The body was later identified as Martha L. Allen.

Mayor Billy Barlow requested consideration from the Common Council to adopt a resolution establishing Energy Benchmark Requirements for city-owned municipal buildings. Collecting, reporting and sharing building energy data on a regular basis allows city officials and the public to better understand the energy performance of municipal buildings relative to similar buildings nationwide.
Patients at Oswego Hospital can now take advantage of a perk that will keep them warm and dry when they arrive by vehicle at the healthcare facility: free valet parking services. Oswego Hospital began offering the complimentary valet parking service today (Dec. 4) to patients using one of the hospital’s many services. Motorists, who wish to take advantage of this new patient initiative, need to just drive up to the hospital’s main covered entrance between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
On Nov. 30 at 9:28 a.m., sheriff’s deputies arrested Gary A. Bubis Jr., 37, of 393 Albion Cross Road, Pulaski. He was charged with first-degree sex abuse, a class D felony. He allegedly engaged in sexual contact with the victim being less than the age of 13.
Students at the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation are teaming up with the city of Oswego to help tear down blighted houses within the city. The new partnership kicked off on Nov. 28 when students and staff from CiTi arrived at 154 E. Seneca St. to begin to demolish the building.
More than 500 students are eligible to walk across the stage at SUNY Oswego’s December commencement on Dec. 16, with many already taking steps toward the future. Jayme McCreary takes two Oswego degrees — the human-computer interaction graduate degree she is about to earn and her bachelor’s in computer science — into a full-time job as a tech associate on the AXA U.S. user-centered design team.
