Regardless of the paths they choose in life, Superintendent Dr. Dean Goewey encouraged the Class of 2017 to make a positive difference in the lives of others. No one knows where they are going to end up, or who or what they may change on their journey; “but don’t doubt for a second that we won’t change the world in our subtle and unique ways,” Valedictorian Sarah Smolinski added.

On June 22, 2017 at approximately 2:35 p.m., a trooper patrolling northbound on I-81 in the town of Salina came upon an accident that had just occurred. The trooper discovered a gray Ford pickup that had struck the concrete barrier, and spun, facing south in the northbound lanes near the 7th North Street exit. Five passengers, including a small child and an infant, were just starting to exit the vehicle.

The week of June 25 – July 1 has been declared the 20th annual “National Mosquito Control Awareness Week” by the American Mosquito Control Association, an organization dedicated to preserving the public’s health and well-being through safe, environmentally sound mosquito control programs since 1935. The goal of the “mosquito week” is to educate the public about the significance of mosquitoes’ potential impacts on people’s daily lives and the important service provided by mosquito control workers throughout the United States and worldwide.

At this week’s meeting of the Physical Services Committee,
Justin Rudgick, Community Development Director, said he received a request from Cre8 Studios regarding the Oswego County Paddlefest to be held on July 22. The kayakers will reach Oswego around 11 a.m. and the event will last until 7 p.m.

On the site of “hallowed grounds” Tuesday evening, a new outdoor interpretive panel was unveiled near the granite refugee memorial installed in 1981 by the Syracuse Chapter of Pioneer Women/NA’AMMAT and the Jewish Community of Central New York, which was dedicated to the millions of victims of the Nazi Holocaust who never had the opportunity to start a new life. The panel describes the historical significance of the World War II Fort Ontario Emergency Refugee Shelter – the only one in the United States.

Oswego City Police are seeking the public’s assistance in attempting to locate Alexander Reynnells. Alex had left word that he was moving out of his Oswego residence on June 9, 2017, and has not been seen or heard from since that date. Family and friends are concerned about his well-being.
