Exelon Generation, owner of the nation’s largest nuclear energy fleet, today (March 31) announced it has assumed ownership and management of operations of the James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant in Scriba.
U.S. Congressman John Katko held a heroin summit Thursday evening in Oswego City Hall. Community members had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the spike in local heroin use with a panel of parents, educators, healthcare providers, law enforcement officials and local advocates.

Sixteen not-for-profit organizations were awarded grants totaling $1,204,000 from the Richard S. Shineman Foundation in the first of three 2017 grant rounds at its March board meeting. Of that amount, $704,000 is being paid this year; the remainder over time.

Mary Beth Fierro, principal at Oswego Middle School has been selected as the 2017 New York State Middle School Principal of the Year by the School Administrators Association of New York State and the National Association of Elementary School Principals. This award is given annually to a member of SAANYS and NAESP who has set the pace, character, and quality of education for the children in his or her school.
Last year was a very good year for the Port City, Mayor Billy Barlow said Monday night.
