As New Yorkers make plans to gather with friends and family to celebrate Thanksgiving, the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York urges all to have a happy, safe holiday. According to the National Fire Protection Association, unattended cooking and cooking accidents are responsible for the majority of home fires and fire deaths.
At its meeting Monday night, the Administrative Services Committee moved forward with plans to redevelop the former Flexo-Wire site. Justin Rudgick, community development director, requested a discussion of the purchase agreement between the city of Oswego and Housing Visions regarding the sale of the Flexo-Wire site for the development of the Harbor View Square. A resolution addressing Housing Visions’ site control was forwarded to the full council for consideration.
On 11/18/16 at 10:40 a.m., John J. Motell IV, 18, of 1944 Onionville Road, Martville, was arrested for two counts of first-degree rape, a class B felony and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.
On 11/20/16 at 11:40 a.m., Eric J. Stevens, 30, of 45 Hamilton St., Mexico, was operating a 2014 Ford delivery truck registered to the US Postal Service on Ridge Road in the town of Granby, 100 feet north of Phillips Road. He reportedly lost control causing the vehicle to exit the roadway and rollover.
The city of Oswego will be full of holiday cheer Nov. 26 at the annual tree lighting event coordinated by the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau and hosted by Mayor William Barlow Jr. A full day of fun family activities is scheduled, including pictures with Santa and new activities such as an outdoor skating surface. The event kicks off with the annual Holiday Expo at 9 a.m. in the YMCA Armory with more than 40 vendors, children’s activities, food and holiday music.
At about 11:40 a.m. today (Nov. 20), the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office investigated a fatal motor vehicle crash on Ridge Road in the town of Granby. A USPS delivery truck was northbound on Ridge Road, lost control on the wet roadway, left the eastside of the roadway, struck a tree, ejecting the driver and the vehicle overturned onto the ejected driver, according to the police report.
