State Police are investigating a fatal hunting accident in Sandy Creek

At 4:41 p.m. today (Nov. 24), State Police in Pulaski responded to a residence on Kehoe Road in the town of Sandy Creek for a report of an individual shot in a hunting accident. NOCA Ambulance transported the individual to Oswego Hospital, where the individual was pronounced deceased, police said.

Firefighters Stress Cooking Safety on Thanksgiving Day

According to the National Fire Protection Association, cooking is the leading cause of home fires on Thanksgiving Day. A cooking fire is three times more likely on Thanksgiving than on any other day of the year. “Most fires on Thanksgiving occur between noon and 4 p.m. – the peak cooking hours,” said Lt. Paul Conzone. “A lot of those fires can be easily avoided by staying alert and in the kitchen while cooking.”

North Carolina ‘Mayor’ Meets Port City’s Mayor

Mr. Mayor, meet Ms. Mayor. When the youngest mayor in North Carolina needs a little advice, she turns to the youngest mayor in New York. Genna Losurdo is mayor of her third grade class at Abbott Creek Elementary School in Raleigh, N.C. Her honor the mayor and her sister accompanied their parents north to visit family in the Port City for the holiday. One thing on her to do list was to meet with Oswego’s mayor.

Redevelopment Plans For Flexo-Wire Site Move Forward

At its meeting Monday night, the Administrative Services Committee moved forward with plans to redevelop the former Flexo-Wire site. Justin Rudgick, community development director, requested a discussion of the purchase agreement between the city of Oswego and Housing Visions regarding the sale of the Flexo-Wire site for the development of the Harbor View Square. A resolution addressing Housing Visions’ site control was forwarded to the full council for consideration.
