Oswego Council OK’s Winter Parking Plan

The Oswego council worked throughout the summer to come up with a winter parking policy that would be fair and make the majority of the residents happy. They aren’t quite there yet. However, at Monday’s meeting, they approved a policy that’s the best step going forward into the coming winter, the councilors agreed. The policy will be in effect from December 1 of each year until March 31 of the following year. It calls for no parking on residential streets from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m.; except for the downtown area where the ban is in effect 2 – 6 a.m.

Oswego’s Marching Bucs ‘Golden’ in Massachusetts

This past weekend, the Marching Bucs competed in the New England School Bands Association competition held at Wakefield High School in Massachusetts. The Marching Bucs won the entire show with a score of 88.3 and received a gold rating. The Marching Bucs also won caption awards for Best Music, Best Color Guard, and Best Percussion!

Syracuse Woman Facing Felony Drug Charges In Fulton

On Friday (September 30), at approximately 4:02 p.m., investigators with the Oswego County Drug Task Force, with the assistance of the Fulton City Police Department, executed a narcotics related search warrant on a 2004 Dodge Caravan and its sole occupant and driver, Lavenia M. Gary-Vann, as she operated it on South Fourth Street near County Route 57 in the city of Fulton.

Oswego Burglary Suspect Apprehended

On Wednesday (October 5), at about 11:50 p.m., 22-year-old Estevan L Gonzalez of Oswego, was observed by patrol officers and identified as a possible suspect in recent reported burglary cases. As police approached Gonzalez, he reportedly fled on foot. Gonzalez was stopped by police near the intersection of West Fifth Street and Niagara streets.

September 2016 Was Warm, But ‘Not That Warm’

The temperature for September 2016 was warm, very warm. But overall, it’s not really warm, according to Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service. “The temperature last month came in at 65.0 degrees. That is 2.5 degrees higher than average,” he said. “I thought that would be up there. But, when I checked – it only came in 14th warmest since 1855. The warmest was (71.0 degrees) 1881.”

Katko Applauds Action by NRC to Accept Joint Application for Transfer of FitzPatrick from Entergy to Exelon

Two weeks after Rep. John Katko called on federal regulators to move forward as quickly and fairly as possible with consideration of Entergy and Exelon’s joint transfer application for the FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission this week announced its acceptance of the application and intention to move forward with consideration.
