In February 2008, Oswego County joined forces with ProAct to provide individuals with little or no prescription coverage access to affordable medications. Since the program was implemented, Oswego County residents have collectively saved more than $8.5 million on over 239,000 prescriptions.
The sewer rate schedule that was adopted by the Common Council in December 2015 didn’t create parity between low-volume users and high-volume users, Mayor Billy Barlow said Monday night. “I am recommending a modification to the sewer rate schedule that addresses this disparity,” the mayor said. “Our goal is to alleviate some of the pressure for our homeowners and to get our heavier users to pay their fair share.”
On January 18, State Police and Oswego County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a burglary in progress at a residence on State Route 3 in the town of Mexico. Oswego County Sheriff’s Deputies located a vehicle in the area matching the suspect vehicle description with three male occupants fitting the description of the suspects observed by a neighbor.
During the tour, participants will have the opportunity to experience the corridor from a unique perspective and gain a better understanding of existing challenges and future opportunities. The bus tour is scheduled for May 11 from 2:30 – 4 p.m. The tour will leave from the Lowe’s parking lot.
Mayor Billy Barlow announced today (April 29) that the new city of Oswego website went live and is up and running. The website focuses on providing a more business friendly destination, promoting Oswego’s natural resources and highlighting Oswego’s history in a friendly and easy to navigate page layout.

Oswego Fire Department personnel responded to 158 W. Seneca St. at 10:39 a.m. today (April 29) to a reported vehicle
fire in close proximity to structures. According to witnesses on the scene, a neighbor noticed smoke coming from the garage, raised the door, and found the vehicle with smoke coming from under the hood.
Members of the Child Advocacy Center’s Multi-Disciplinary Team were recently recognized at the agency’s annual meeting for their extraordinary investigative efforts. Over the past year the CAC served 456 children, provided 3,111 therapy sessions, and forensically investigated more than 140 cases.
At its meeting Monday night, the Common Council authorized a public hearing regarding proposed Local Law No. 3 of the Year 2016 – A Local Law Amending Chapter 176, Pawnbrokers, of the Code of the City of Oswego. The public hearing will be held at 7:10 p.m. May 9 in the Council Chamber at City Hall, 13 W. Oneida St.
