Oswego County Highway Department Announces Spring and Summer Bridge Work

The Oswego County Highway Department has scheduled bridge replacement and repair work to be done on three local bridges this spring and summer. Repair work on the county Route 32 bridge over Shanty Creek, at the intersection of routes 32 and 12 in the hamlet of Mallory, is scheduled for April and May.

Business, Education and Labor Voices Express Support for Governor Cuomo’s Proposed Clean Energy Standard

The Upstate Energy Jobs Coalition, which includes business, education, labor, and economic development organizations, today (April 8) expressed strong support for Governor Andrew Cuomo’s proposed Clean Energy Standard following the release of a cost analysis of the plan issued by the state’s Department of Public Service. The CES mandates that 50 percent of all electricity consumed in New York by 2030 come from clean and renewable energy sources.

Adult Prom to Benefit Suicide Prevention in Oswego County

Cre8 Studios and Friends of Oswego are back at it again and this time they are helping to raise awareness for suicide prevention in Oswego County. Adult Prom, which will take place on April 16 at The American Foundry, will benefit Suicide Awareness Voices of Education Central New York. SAVE is a local non-profit that is dedicated to the prevention of suicide and is also a member of the National Council for Suicide Prevention.

March 2016 Was Warmer, Drier Than Average

March 2016 was a lot warmer than average and just a bit drier, according to Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service. The average temperature 5.6 degrees above average. Precipitation came in 0.60-inch below average. Snowfall for March was 16.3 inches below average. And, through the end of March, total snowfall stands at 72.9 inches. That is 73.6 inches below average.

Oswego St. Baldrick’s Fundraisers surpass Half-Million Dollar Mark

More than 125 volunteers will “Brave the Shave” this Sunday as they raise money to beat childhood cancers at this year’s 10th annual S. Baldrick’s Day in Oswego County. With more than $30,000 showing on this year’s website, the ten-year total of donations raised at Oswego events is more than $510,000.
