Oswego Council OKs Local Law Regarding Taxation

At Monday night’s meeting the Common Council approved Local Law #3 of the year 2015, amending Chapter 224, Taxation, of the Code of the City of Oswego. It allows for the exemption from taxes that portion of an increase in assessment to residential buildings occurring as a result of capital improvement, according to the assistant city attorney.

Oswego County Hospice Cup Regatta Slated June 20

The Friends of Oswego County Hospice has set the date for the 16th annual Oswego County Hospice Cup Regatta. The Summer Solstice themed event will be held on June 20 at the Oswego Yacht Club/International Marina. Plans for the day-long event, which raised more than $21,000 in 2014, and more than $300,000 total since its inception, are well under way.

Second Annual SAFE Fair To Help Fight Synthetic Drugs and More

The VOW Foundation is gearing up for the second annual SAFE Fair. “The fair won’t deal with just synthetic marijuana,” Teresa Woolson, president of the VOW Foundation, told Oswego County Today.”Synthetic drugs are causing all sorts of problems. At the fair, information about all drugs, addiction, prevention and healthy options will be provided.” The VOW Foundation is a non-profit organization named in honor of Victor Orlando Woolson who died in 2012 from a fatal reaction to synthetic drugs.

Oswego Man Facing Child Porn Charges

At approximately 7:50 a.m. today (April 10), Oswego City Police executed a search warrant at 235 E. Eighth St. in the city of Oswego. As a result of the investigation, Oswego Police arrested and charged 54-year-old James A. Jackson of 235 E. Eighth St., with three counts of “Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child” (class E felony) and three counts of “Possessing an Obscene Performance by a Child” (class E felony).
