Scriba Man Arrested; 2-Year-Old Boy Died From His Injuries

UPDATE: According to NY State Police, the child died this afternoon (Feb. 8)
At approximately 8:46 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 7), a 911 call was made from 34 Hayfly Road in the town of Scriba; for an unresponsive 2-year-old boy. Firefighters and EMTs from the Scriba Volunteer Fire Department and Menter’s Ambulance Service responded to the residence and began life saving measures on the child. A subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of 20-year-old Edward G. Lewis, of 34 Hayfly Road.

Two Syracuse Men, Oswego Woman Charged In Crack Cocaine Bust

During the afternoon hours of Thursday, the Oswego County Drug Task Force conducted an operation which targeted street level narcotic dealers within the city of Oswego. At approximately 5 p.m., a stop of a vehicle suspected of being associated with the illegal possession and sales of crack cocaine occurred at East Fourth Street near East Oneida Street. The four occupants of the vehicle were detained and search warrants were applied for through Oswego City Court. Three occupants of the vehicle were arrested and criminally charged.

Update: Multi-Vehicle Accident On I-81 in Jefferson County Closes Roadway

UPDATE 6 PM – All northbound lanes of I-81 have been re-opened in the Town of Ellisburg
following a multi-vehicle accident and heavy lake-effect snow. Thirty-five vehicles and five tractor trailers were involved in a multi-vehicle accident on I-81 in Town of Ellisburg.. No serious injuries are reported at this time.

Legislature Chairman Appoints Task Force To Address Community Health, Poverty Reduction in Oswego County

Oswego County Legislature Chairman Kevin Gardner today (Feb. 4) announced the appointment of a special task force dedicated to improving health and reducing poverty in Oswego County. The Community Health and Poverty Reduction Task Force will serve as a steering committee to work with CZB consulting group of Alexandria, Va., to guide a comprehensive study of programs and services available to help those in need in Oswego County. The task force is chaired by County Legislator Roy Reehil (District 5, Constantia).

AmeriCorps Members Help Keep Infants In Need Warm

“For the previous couple of years, our group of AmeriCorps members has made infant fleece blankets and donated them to the families with infants in need who are referred to the County Health Department’s Maternal Child Health Program,” said Carrie Victory, Oswego County AmeriCorps. “The program provides home visits from public health nurses between doctors appointments. AmeriCorps members experience the tremendous reward that comes from helping others.” More than 30 blankets were made by the group and other volunteers.

Oswego Hospital Asks Those With the Flu To Stay Home
