Oswego County Clerk’s Office Accepts Electronically Recorded Land Records

Beginning Feb. 1, the Oswego County Clerk’s Office will accept electronically-recorded land record documents through e-recording service providers, County Clerk Michael C. Backus said Jan. 27. County residents and businesses have the ability to record their documents electronically through eRecording Partners Network (EPN), Corporation Service Company (CSC), and Simplifile, three of the country’s largest e-recording service providers.

Oswego School Budget Plans Waiting On State Action

Superintendent Ben Halsey said that while “building the revenue side of the budget” there is no assistance from the State of New York. Governor Andrew Cuomo is not allowing “running the numbers” for state aid. This “run” usually allows school district officials to commence budget planning, but it appears that Albany isn’t going to run the preliminary state aid numbers until the budget is in place. “We are left out in the dark while the political games plays out,” Halsey said.

Transfer Of Funds To OFD Sparks Debate

A resolution to transfer $100,000 to the Oswego Fire Department was approved 5-2 at Monday’s Common Council meeting. The funds will be used to cover the costs of fire department personnel performing code enforcement duties, according to Chief Jeff McCrobie. However, two councilors weren’t in favor of the move.

Novelis Commissions $48 Million Automotive Closed-Loop Recycling Investment in Scriba Plant

Novelis, the global leader in aluminum rolling and recycling, today (Jan. 26) announced the completion of a $48 million investment in its automotive scrap aluminum recycling facility in Scriba. It expands upon the company’s recent growth in Oswego to meet the increased demand for aluminum automotive sheet in North America. Including this recycling center, over the past five years, Novelis has invested more than $400 million in Oswego and hired more than 430 new employees, with around 250 additional jobs planned by the year 2020.

Lakers, Ice Hockey Player Earn National Recognition For Service Projects

The Oswego State athletics department recently earned a top community service award from the National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators, thanks to the work of 450 student-athletes participating in 58 community service and outreach events. At a ceremony at the NCAA convention in Washington, D.C., the NADIIIAA recognized Oswego with the Jostens Community Service Award for an Array of Projects for the third consecutive year.

She loves to watch the birds in her foster home, sort of like having her own personal Nature Channel.
