Committee Gives Harborfest Green Light To Use Public Space

“What we’re asking for is the same as we have been asking for the last 20 years or so,” Doug Buske, executive director of Oswego Harbor Festivals, Inc., told the committee. “The same parking, the same parks, the same spaces. State Police investigate one-car fatal in Richland

State Police in Pulaski are investigating a fatal one-car crash that occurred on December 2 at approximately 7 a.m. on Frank Lacy Road in the town of Richland. The investigation has revealed a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox, operated by Tyler J. Spicer, 36, from Pulaski, was westbound on Frank Lacy Road, a half-mile east of State Route 11.

SUNY Oswego December graduates prepared for next stage

The more than 500 students eligible for December graduation ceremonies on Dec. 13 took many roads to SUNY Oswego and acquired experiences to follow many paths after. As of late November, some 430 undergraduates and 101 graduate students were eligible for the Dec. 13 ceremonies in the Marano Campus Center arena, which also will be streamed live with a link from oswego.edu homepage.

OFD Offers Safe Heating Tips

With the home heating season upon us, the Oswego Fire Department would like to remind residents of the importance of home heating safety. As you might expect, half of all home heating fires occur in December, January and February. Also, half of home heating fire deaths were caused by fires that started because portable heating equipment was placed too close to things that could burn.

Oswego Lights Up For The Holidays

The Port City officially lit up for the holidays on Saturday. Hundreds of people throughout the day enjoyed the first-ever Light Up, Oswego! The new community wide all-day event, welcomed the holiday season in Oswego at myriad locations. Events and activities began at 10 a.m. and continued until around 7:30 p.m. after Santa had greeted hundreds of youngsters in City Hall.

Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh reports that deputies have charged a Central Square man in connection with a robbery of a Salina restaurant that led police on a high-speed chase that ended in Oswego County. The suspect allegedly lead police on a high-speed chase, with his two young children in the van.

Eastside Oswego Fire Claims Life

Oswego firefighters responded to a house fire late Wednesday night. The blaze at an apartment house on East Third Street reportedly left one person dead. “The call at 155 E. Third St. was reported at 10:14 p.m. with units arriving three minutes later to find the upstairs apartment fully involved with fire,”Chief Jeff McCrobie said.
