Debra Mullenax, director of the Oswego County Real Property Tax Service, reminds property owners that they have until Dec. 31 to apply for the School Tax Relief (STAR) property tax exemption. “Homeowners can apply for free and those who need assistance may call or stop in our office for help,” said Mullenax.

Honored were three retiring physicians, Obstetrician/Gynecologist Dr. Joseph Mather, Radiologist Dr. Sudhir Guthikonda, Obstetrician/Gynecologist Dr. Ronald Uva and a long-time board member, the Rev. November is National Runaway Prevention Month. Washington Square Park (East Park) is being used by Oswego County Opportunities this month in order to raise awareness about runaways and the homeless. The statue that had sat at its highest peak since the building’s creation in 1905, seemed destined to be demolished along with the rest of St. Mary’s School. One woman, however, was determined not to let that happen and rounded up a posse of volunteers.
Sylvia Bonadio, 57, of Jersey City, NJ, was operating a 2013 Nissan Sentra eastbound when she struck pedestrian, Lee Bond, 49, of Harwood Drive Lacona, troopers said. Bond was crossing the dark roadway at the time. No charges are expected.
Oswego Mayor Thomas Gillen recently proclaimed November 15 through December 24 to be Salvation Army Kettle Fund Drive Season and encouraged “. . . all Oswego citizens to support the very dedicated people of the Salvation Army in this very worthy cause.”
Those planning on parking along West Mohawk Street in the future may soon have to keep one eye on the clock. At its meeting Monday night, the Administrative Services Committee moved ahead with plans to implement a two-hour parking restriction on a huge chunk of the street.

.A member of the construction crew on site was in the process of installing metal roofing on the new building, about 24 feet off the ground, when a gust of wind blew him and a piece of the roofing off of the roof structure at the F.X. Caprara construction site Monday afternoon.
On November 6 the Oswego County Health Department held an informational program for some of Oswego County’s largest employers regarding ways of protecting their most important assets, their employees, during a biological threat. The program was provided by the Bio-Defense Network and designed to enhance the ability of the County Health Department to distribute medication to all county residents in case of a declared disaster.
