Salmon River International Sport Fishing Museum Holds 10th Anniversary Open House
The Salmon River International Sport Fishing Museum near Pulaski will celebrate its 10th year anniversary on October 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a special ceremony and a presentation at 1 p.m. about the past, current and future events of the museum.
Additional West Nile Virus Found in Oswego County
THIS JUST IN: The New York State Department of Health today notified the Oswego County Health Department that more evidence of the West Nile virus was found in mosquitoes collected Sept. 12 in West Monroe. Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang reminds residents to continue to be proactive in protecting themselves against mosquitoes to avoid infection of mosquito-borne viruses.
Marching Buccaneer Pair Picked For Army All-American Marching Band
Only 125 musicians and color guard members from across the country are selected for this annual honor. Since 2008, the Army has selected a dozen OHS band members. On October 3, two more Oswego High School standouts, Cassandra Hondro and Emily King, will be honored as part of the 2014 U.S. Army All-American Marching Band.
Relatively Quiet Night for Oswego City School District Board of Education
The September 24 meeting of the Oswego City School District Board of Education was relatively routine. Prior to the beginning of the public portion of the meeting the board conducted a moment of silence for district employees who have recently passed away.

Madison-Mae Wilder is already thinking about her next birthday. Recently, the Pulaski Elementary School fifth grader celebrated her 10th birthday. Instead of receiving, she was giving. The young lady went out and raised donations, which she later presented to Paws and Effect for use by Paws Across Oswego County.
DEC Invites Public Comment On The Draft Upper Salmon River Unit Management Plan
The NYSe Department of Environmental Conservation will hold a public meeting October 2 to discuss the draft Upper Salmon River Unit Management Plan and obtain comments and input from the public. The meeting will be held from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. at the Salmon River Fish Hatchery, 2133 County Route 22, Altmar.
Crist To Head Syracuse Diocese Schools

Former Oswego City School District Superintendent Bill Crist will take over as superintendent of the Syracuse Diocesan schools early next spring. Crist retired from his post in Oswego at the end of the last shcool year. He will begin his duties for the Syracuse Diocese in March.
Maffei Announces $300,000 Grant For Oswego County Opportunities
This funding, which will be used to help victims of domestic violence and sexual assault locate transitional housing services and secure permanent housing, is a component of the bipartisan Violence Against Women Act which Rep. Maffei co-sponsored and voted for in February 2013.
