A celebration of academic success was conducted recently to honor Oswego Middle School seventh and eighth graders. The ninth Oswego Middle School Top 50 Dinner was held at the Oswego Elks Club and once again parents, families, friends, teachers, administrators and board of education members congratulated the students who have worked diligently in the classroom and at home to earn deserved recognition.

Authorities are investigating a drowning on Kasoag Lake. At about 1:10 a.m. today (May 25), members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office responded to Kasoag Lake in the town of Williamstown on a report of a possible drowning.
On Thursday, the Oswego Fire Department units along with Animal Control personnel responded to a report of a deer stranded on the rock wall in the center of the river. Fire Department personnel responded in the fire/rescue boat and carefully eased the deer to shore to awaiting animal control personnel.

The Richard S. Shineman Foundation announced it has awarded Enable a $10,000 grant to expand its parenting program for families of children with autism into Oswego County.
Enabling Parents is a six-week education class that helps parents and caregivers better understand and care for children with an autism spectrum disorder or behavioral issues. The training will cover topics such as measuring and managing behavior, identifying triggers, monitoring progress and communicating with school personnel.
