The Oswego County Real Property Tax Services Office will host a series of meetings around the county to demonstrate the new tools and improved GIS features on the department’s parcel viewer web site.
The 25th annual Severe Hazards Awareness Week will be observed in Oswego County and throughout the state April 28 through May 4. As part of its educational campaign, Oswego County Emergency Management Acting Director Terry Bennett reminds residents of the precautions they should take when hazardous weather conditions are predicted.
The annual “Walk for Autism” drew approximately 300 people to Leighton Elementary School and the nearby Wilber Field on Saturday afternoon. Organizers admit the number was down from past years, but the participants were “just as dedicated as ever.” Besides acting as a fundraiser, the event, sponsored by the Oswego County Autism Task Force, also focused attention on the plight of Autism victims in Oswego County.
“I think it’s going to rock some people’s worlds,” said Dr. Clay Price, SUNY Oswego Director of Choral Activities. The piece he’s referring to is Dona Nobis Pacem by Ralph Vaughn Williams, which will be performed by the Festival Chorus.
“As the result of interviews with the two finalists this week, the board has elected to continue its search to secure the person who would best match the needs of the Oswego City School District.”
Recently, an Oswego High School teacher received this email: “Just thought you’d like to know, remember all those things you taught me to do in an interview? Did it, nailed it – Thank you!”
A new and traditional media executive, entrepreneur and industry leader, and a pioneer in cable television and broadcast production services, 1977 SUNY Oswego graduate Louis A. Borrelli Jr. will serve as master of ceremonies at the college’s Commencement Eve Dinner and Torchlight Ceremony on May 17.
On Wednesday at approximately 9:58 a.m., members of the Criminal Investigation Division arrested 30-year-old Brandon A. Burnham of 420 Gifford St., Syracuse, in regards to a burglary that had occurred on April 13 at a West Schuyler Street address.
The $78,240,412 spending plan is an increase over the current budget of $1,636,355. The tax rate increase is still 2 percent. Voters will have their say on the budget on May 21.
Business Facilities magazine recently recognized Operation Oswego County with an Economic Development Excellence award for its 2013 Annual Economic Development Awards. OOC received the honor, in the population between 50,000-200,000 category, for its overall performance on behalf of Oswego County, in terms of the expansion of existing businesses and the attraction of new ventures.
