Fatal Crash Victims Identified – Investigation Continues

Oswego County Sheriff’s Investigators have released the names of the persons involved in a truck vs. motorcycle crash that occurred Sunday afternoon on State Route 49 in West Monroe. The driver of the truck was 65-year-old Carl Wells of Parish. The driver of the motorcycle was Robert Hoke, 54, of Westernville, NY. His passenger was Lisa Staple, 49, of Rome, NY.

Fire Strikes Pulaski VFW; Search Under Way For Cause

Crews assess the fire damage at the Pulaski VFW today.UPDATE:  “Upon arrival we had heavy flames and smoke coming out of the front of the building,” Chief Assistant Fire Chief Scott Redden of the Ringgold Fire Departmen said. “At this time it’s still under investigation. We’re not exactly sure what started it.  Nobody was inside at the time.” However, a resident of the second floor apartment is hoping his cat is somewhere safe in the apartment.

Oswego Man Facing Felony Weapons Charge

As a result of the January search, police discovered and seized a Remington 870 shotgun, which had been altered to an illegal state. Specifically, the barrel had been shortened, or ‘sawed off.’ Police also seized what appeared to be two homemade silencers for the shotgun and two other long guns which were secured for safe keeping.
