The amendments should make it easier for those who have trouble keeping their sidewalks clear, especially in areas where plows go by frequently and throw snow and ice back on the sidewalks, proponents said. Several dozen fishermen participate in a meeting to find ways to make fishing in the Oswego River safer and prevent mishaps like the one last week that has claimed the lives of two anglers. Local and state authorities will now review all the information and a second public meeting is being planned to update the community.
A second fisherman who had to be rescued from the rapidly rising waters of the Oswego River has died.
Clifford Luther, 52, of Horseheads, died at Oswego Hospital Tuesday, a week after his rescue.
On Oct. 13, Oswego’s citizens are invited to help the city to envision their ideal city in the year 2020 by sharing their ideas with the 2020 Steering Committee and Bergmann Associates.
The tentative $189,363,300 spending plan shows a slight dip in the tax rate, down from this year’s $7.16 per $1,000 assessed to $7.07. Legislators will now review the plan and possibly make recommendations. A public hearing will be held before the Dec. 16 legislature meeting.
