Police Targeting Motorists Who Don’t Yield To Pedestrians

At about six feet tall and weighing more than 200 pounds, he can be an imposing figure at the Oswego Police Station. However, while walking through some city crosswalks, he was virtually invisible to many drivers. Several drivers this week told police they didn’t notice the police officer acting as a  pedestrian going through the crosswalk in front of them as part of  a program to increase safety.

Trinity Catholic School’s Sixth Graders Move On

Gabriella Lanza heads back to her seat after receiving her diploma  from Principal David Friedlander.

One of Trinity Catholic School’s smallest sixth grade classes graduated Tuesday night during a commencement celebration and mass at St. Joseph’s Church. The ceremony marked a stop along one part of the 12 students’ journey, but was also the starting point to the next part of their journey – middle schools in Oswego and other parts of the county.

Oswego DPW Commissioner Seeks To Replenish Fleet

Oswego’s commissioner of the DPW and Parks & Recreation wants  to replace some dilapidated city vehicles that have had to be removed  from service because of their deteriorated condition.

At Monday night’s meeting of the Administrative Services Committee, Mike Smith, DPW commissioner, requested discussion regarding the purchase of several pieces of equipment. He gave councilors a list of five vehicles and sander box that he’d like to purchase. “This isn’t a wish list. These are things that I really need,” he said.
