Oswego’s Farmer’s Market is the place to be tonight.Ã‚Â Besides the best local vegetables, fruits and baked goods, it’s Irish Night.Ã‚Â Oswego’s Hibernian Club will be there to sell their famous corned beef sandwiches, and these young folks, above,Ã‚Â will provide the entertainment.Ã‚Â They’re from the Kinlough Academy of Irish Dance and The Butler-Sheehan Academy of Irish Dance. DNA Experts Testify In Jones Case

Two experts from the New York State Police forensics center in Albany testified today (Sept. 16) about the green rope in the Alan Jones murder case. State police forensic expert Stacy Rack testified that she discovered “three small, reddish brown spots” on the rope that killed Erin Maxwell. No DNA from Jones was found, however.

The Oswego County Health Department confirmed today (Sept. 15) that an Oswego County resident who was ill with Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) has died. Two earlier cases of human EEE in New York State were also fatal. One occurred in 1971 and the other was in 1983.

Two members of the State Police testified today (Sept. 14) regarding their interaction with Alan Jones last August. They explained what Jones told them regarding his stepsister’s death. However, when they gave opinions in their answers, the defense objected. The jury can’t hear opinions regarding Jones’ demeanor because it is not part of the theory of the crime, the judge explained.

The Oswego Fire Dept responded to a natural gas Leak at the intersection of East First and Oneida streets 10:42 a.m. today (Sept. 14). A construction worker working with heavy equipment struck the 4-inch high-pressure gas line, causing the release of natural gas.

Judge Admonishes Spectator At Jones Trial

Tensions have been running high ever since the Alan Jones murder trial got under way Sept. 8. When one of the attorneys makes a questionable comment, the other objects and the judge makes a ruling. However, when a spectator makes an objectionable remark, the judge moves swiftly to ensure order isn’t lost in the courtroom.
