The drill uses simulated emergency scenarios to test the ability of plant personnel and offsite emergency organizations to respond quickly and effectively to a plant emergency. Nine Mile Point performs a number of emergency preparedness drills each year to ensure readiness.
Four raised garden beds containing over a dozen vegetables and herbs were constructed and installed at the DSS building on Spring Street in Mexico. The garden’s harvest so far this season has yielded more than 200 servings of vegetables.

At its meeting Thursday, the Oswego County Legislature approved the formation of and incorporation of the Oswego County Land Bank Corporation. The council authorized the community development director to submit the State and Municipal Facilities Program Application to Assemblyman Will Barclay regarding the Oswego West Pierhead Lighthouse Restoration Project. The US government awarded ownership of the lighthouse to the city in 2009. And, since then, there has been a grassroots effort to restore and preserve the landmark.
