Corrections Officer Arraigned on Insurance and Worker’s Compensation Fraud Charges

Cayuga County District Attorney Jon Budelmann announced the arrest today (Aug. 20) of Thomas E. Larrabee of 472 County Route 4, in Central Square. Larrabee is currently a Corrections Officer with the NYS Departments of Corrections and Community Supervision (currently assigned to Cayuga Correctional Facility in Moravia).

While a recent local case regarding children left confined in a vehicle in what is considered extreme temperatures has left the public outraged, Oswego County Sheriff Reuel Todd, explains the repercussions of such charges. There are two types of situations in which these charges happen; either children/people left in a vehicle or an animal left in a vehicle when experiencing extreme temperatures, he said.

State Police Investigate Motorcycle Crash In Schroeppel

The investigation revealed Scott J. O’Connor, 48, from Pennellville, was operating a 1997 Honda motorcycle southbound on Route 481 when he lost control of his motorcycle after rounding a curve. O’Connor was transported to Upstate University Hospital, Syracuse, by Mentor Ambulance. He is listed in serious condition, according to State Police.

Amy Tresidder, the Democratic candidate for mayor of Oswego, is eager to debate her Republican opponent. Tresidder, currently a county legislator and a city resident for more than 30 years, said today (Aug. 19) that she’s challenged 24-year-old city councilman Billy Barlow to a moderated debate to be held in September. West Monroe Man Facing Rape Charges

On Tuesday (Aug. 18) at 3:29 p.m., Andrew Lewis Gaurin, 26, of 1580 SR 69, Lot 10, West Monroe, was arrested for two counts of first-degree criminal sex act, a class B felony; first-degree rape, a class B felony; three counts of predatory assault against a child, a class A felony and endangering the welfare of a child.

Rainstorm Causes Damage, Breaks Humidity – Briefly

The hot and humid weather took a turn in the afternoon Tuesday, giving people the cool down they were looking for. The rain started to pour and it had no intention of slowing up for quite some time. Heavy rain and damaging winds swept through the area early Tuesday evening. “We received 0.45-inch of rain from 5 to 5:15 p.m.,” said Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service. “Then from about 6:30 to 7 p.m. we got another 0.10-inch.”
