The Caravan Stage Company will float into Oswego Aug. 5 through 7 for three nights of high-flying, mesmerizing aerial acrobats and a world-renowned theatrical performance. This live performance is all done on a 90-foot tall ship, the Caravan Stage Tall Ship Theatre. The event is part of the H. Lee White Maritime Museum’s “Arts on the Waterfront Series.”

Brooklyn Teen Facing Felony Drug Charges In Oswego

On Wednesday investigators with the Oswego County Drug Task Force, in conjunction with the Oswego City Police Department investigated the reported possession and sales of illegal drugs within the city of Oswego. Investigators made contact with three individuals in a green Dodge Neon at 137 State Route 104. A passenger in that vehicle, Steven C. Pena, 19, of 575 Herkimer St., Brooklyn, NY, was found to be in possession of 66 individual bags of crack cocaine and 105 illegally possessed Oxycodone tablets, according to police.

Oswego Teen Receives Assistance Dog From Canine Companions for Independence

Canine Companions for Independence – a national non-profit organization that provides assistance dogs for children and adults with disabilities – is proud to announce that Oswego resident Brittany Kaye has recently received a Canine Companions Assistance Dog. Thirteen-year-old Brittany was matched with Fonda, a two-year-old Lab/Golden Retriever cross who has been trained to respond to more than 50 commands.

Thirteen young contestants anxiously took the stage recently to sing their hearts out in hopes of being crowned “Fulton Idol.” As the contestants anxiously awaited the results, Alexis Barth, an eighth grader at Fulton Junior High School, was all smiles as she realized she had won the title of Fulton Idol. She had competed in Fulton Idol last year and took home fourth place.

Oswego Police Seek Byrne Dairy Robbery Suspect

At about 1:40 a.m. today (July 22), the Oswego Police Department responded to the west side Byrne Dairy for a robbery complaint. It was reported that a man entered Byrne Dairy and displayed a note to the clerk demanding cash. No one was injured during the robbery, but the man did make off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Oswego School Administrators, Board To Set Goals For District

At Tuesday’s Oswego School Board meeting, Superintendent Ben Halsey elaborated on the district’s board of education workshop, goal-setting process and plans for a “Wall of Distinction.” He wants to set specific goals in three major categories: academic excellence, student achievement; fiscal responsibility and infrastructure; and governance and communication. Plans are also under way “to acknowledge the outstanding people that have come through these doors and contributed to society,” the superintendent said.

Oswego Eyes Major Improvements At Fitzhugh Park

Fitzhugh Park’s playground may be getting a multi-million dollar facelift. Amy Birdsall, planning and zoning director, said she had received correspondence from Lisa Glidden, requesting council support for a grant submission to the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. The amount being applied for is the maximum amount of $500,000 the required match is $166,666 of which all will be accounted for with in-kind services and volunteer time, she said.
