FEMA is preparing new coastal studies and risk analysis for Oswego County, and engineers from a private contractor, Risk Assessment Mapping and Planning Partners (RAMPP), are performing land use reconnaissance surveys of the Lake Ontario shoreline to gather data.

The funding had originally been earmarked for the fire department to help cover the expense of them taking on the responsibilities of the code enforcement office. While councilors agreed to transfer the funds now, they also put the fire department on notice that it has to continue to find ways to keep decreasing its amount of overtime in the future.

Merit awards, senior scholarships/awards and numerous memorial scholarships were presented as well as incentive scholarships to area colleges and universities. More than 250 scholarships/awards were presented to Oswego High School students, amounting to almost $800,000.

Brandon Shoults, 31, of Oswego, left the sidewalk and ran into the road in front of a moving vehicle, according to city police. He is still considered to be in critical condition, police said today (June 22). Anyone with any information about the accident is asked to call police at (315) 342-8120.
