Third St., on April 16 starting at 7 p.m. Elected leaders will include Fulton Mayor Ron Woodward, several of Fulton’s ward counselors and Oswego County legislators. Fulton CCC Campus Goes Tobacco Free

As of April 1, Cayuga Community College is an entirely tobacco free campus.
As the college property continues to be developed and grow CCC has implemented a Tobacco-Use Policy prohibiting the use of cigarettes, electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes, cigars, pipe, bidi, clove cigarettes and any other smoking product, and any smokeless or spit tobacco in any form.

Task Force Gearing Up for April’s Autism Awareness Month

April is Autism Awareness Month and the Oswego County Autism Task Force is gearing up for a month full of activities. It is the mission of the Task Force to provide information and engage in social activities that relate to enhancing the lives of those touched by Autism Spectrum Disorder in our community. For the eighth year, nominations are being sought for people who have made a difference in the lives of those touched by Autism.

Barclay Renews Fight Against Synthetic Drugs

Assemblyman Will Barclay announced that he has renewed his fight against synthetic drugs. Barclay has reintroduced his legislation that would give law enforcement better tools to help discourage synthetic drug use and sales. Barclay said he continues to be concerned about synthetic drugs. “This bill will provide more tools to law enforcement and close loopholes in the law,” said Barclay.

Commissioner Seeks To Get DSS Back To Full Strength

Caseworkers at the county Department of Social Services have been carrying larger than usual case loads for about a month now. At this week’s Finance and Personnel Committee meeting, Commissioner Gregg Heffner requested the legislature expedite refilling five caseworker positions. Currently, the extra cases are redistributed to existing workers.

Felix Cavaliere’s Rascals will provide a “good times” opening to the 28th annual Oswego Harborfest. On July 23 the NRG Lakeview Stage in Breitbeck Park will set the mood for the rest of a spectacular weekend as one of the premier free music festivals in the nation kicks off. Harborfest Executive Director Doug Buske said, “Felix is a great way to launch this year’s celebration. Nearly $13 Million Allocated for Upgrades at Central and Northern New York Colleges

State Senator Patty Ritchie has announced the new State Budget will include nearly $13 million to help local colleges improve the learning experience for students by making upgrades to their campuses. Included in the spending plan is $6.65 million for SUNY Oswego, $1.95 million for SUNY Canton and $4.35 million for Jefferson Community College.
