Second Annual SAFE Fair To Help Fight Synthetic Drugs and More

The VOW Foundation is gearing up for the second annual SAFE Fair. “The fair won’t deal with just synthetic marijuana,” Teresa Woolson, president of the VOW Foundation, told Oswego County Today.”Synthetic drugs are causing all sorts of problems. At the fair, information about all drugs, addiction, prevention and healthy options will be provided.” The VOW Foundation is a non-profit organization named in honor of Victor Orlando Woolson who died in 2012 from a fatal reaction to synthetic drugs.

Oswego Man Facing Child Porn Charges

At approximately 7:50 a.m. today (April 10), Oswego City Police executed a search warrant at 235 E. Eighth St. in the city of Oswego. As a result of the investigation, Oswego Police arrested and charged 54-year-old James A. Jackson of 235 E. Eighth St., with three counts of “Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child” (class E felony) and three counts of “Possessing an Obscene Performance by a Child” (class E felony).

Staff Reductions Threaten Oswego School Budget Plan

The Oswego School Board held a roundtable discussion Thursday regarding the budget process. While not a popular idea, board members admit, some staff reductions may be necessary if other options cannot be found. The Oswego City School District has until April 24 to formulize the budget as it needs to be approved by that date in order to follow the requirements for the May 19 vote. “We have some time. But there’s a lot of work ahead of us,” Superintendent Ben Halsey said. “We’ve got some work to do.”

State Police Request Public Assistance In Identifying Suspect

On January 7, State Police in Fulton arrested Robert A. Boyd, 29, at the Granby Wal-Mart, where Boyd was employed as a cashier. Boyd was charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 1st degree for possessing counterfeit $100 bills. The investigation determined that Boyd was working together with the individual pictured in the attached surveillance photos to pass counterfeit money.

Oswego County Health Department Announces Changes to Rabies Clinic Schedule

The Oswego County Health Department today (April 9) announced changes to the 2015 rabies clinic schedule. The clinic scheduled for July 8 at the Parish Highway Garage has been re-located to the Williamstown Volunteer Fire Department on State Route 13 on July 8. The clinic scheduled for Sept. 9 will be held at the Granby Town Highway Garage, 820 County Route 8.

Fulton High School Concert, Jazz Band Performs At Disney World Resort

Members of the G. Ray Bodley High School Concert and Jazz Band became stars of their own Disney show on March 28 and 29 when they entertained resort guests at Waterside Stage at Downtown Disney and Melody Gardens Theatre at the Epcot Park. The group traveled from Fulton to the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida to take part in the Disney Performing Arts Program.

College Earns National Honor For Students’ Recycling Campaign

The college earned one of four honorable mentions in the 3R (Reuse-Reduce-Recycle) Actions Challenge for racking up 700 actions in a peer-to-peer recycling education project called Garbage Pail Kids. Among 104 colleges and universities participating in the competition, the champions in four size divisions included University at Albany in the medium-size category.
