Two Town Of Oswego Residents Are New State Troopers

Christopher Church and Cody Hogan, residents of the town of Oswego in the 130th Assembly District, are among the 226 new members of the State Police. Gov. Andrew Cuomo congratulated them at the 202nd session graduation ceremony from the Basic School of the New York State Police Academy in Albany. The new troopers will report for field duty on February 12. For the following 10 weeks, the new troopers will be evaluated under a field-training program supervised by senior Field Training Officers.

Investigation Continues Into Death Of Scriba 2-Year-Old

UPDATED INFORMATION: Edward G. Lewis was charged this evening (Feb. 12) with Manslaughter in the first degree, a class “B”felony. The Oswego County DA’s Office and investigators with the NYSP are continuing their investigation with the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s office. Additional charges are pending later this week.

Oswego School Board Committee Says Oui To French Club Trip

The committee was very receptive to a proposed French Club trip, but took no action Monday night. The proposed trip ties in with the standards. The students will make connections with what they have learned in the classroom especially in relation to the Iroquois Nation. Also Monday night, the superintendent said the redistricting proposal is in a “preliminary draft” phase. A formal presentation will be presented for board consideration at the next meeting.

Mayor Thomas Gillen has declared a Winter Snow Advisory, effective today (February 9), at 2 p.m. The mayor is asking all motorists to please adhere to the Alternate Street Parking Regulation, and he has emphasized that all violators will have their vehicles ticketed and towed. Local residents are continuing to receive direct mail solicitations from companies that offer to provide deed reports and other information for fees of $83 to $89, when the information is readily available through county offices, County Clerk Michael Backus said Friday. Pulaski Man Facing Felony Drug Charges

At approximately 9:15 a.m. today (Feb. 8), members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office were called to investigate a report of a domestic dispute at 4930 N. Jefferson St., apartment #6, in the village of Pulaski. The dispute was between a mother and son, 57-year-old Melanie A. Britton and 29-year-old Francis (Frank) Britton, deputies said. During the investigation a broken marijuana pipe was viewed on the floor of the residence, according to the report. A subsequent search of the residence produced precursors for the manufacturing of Methamphetamine and equipment used in said manufacturing, according to deputies.

Scriba Man Arrested; 2-Year-Old Boy Died From His Injuries

UPDATE: According to NY State Police, the child died this afternoon (Feb. 8)
At approximately 8:46 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 7), a 911 call was made from 34 Hayfly Road in the town of Scriba; for an unresponsive 2-year-old boy. Firefighters and EMTs from the Scriba Volunteer Fire Department and Menter’s Ambulance Service responded to the residence and began life saving measures on the child. A subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of 20-year-old Edward G. Lewis, of 34 Hayfly Road.
