Oswego County Begins Demolition of ‘Old Jail’ – DMV and Records Center Open for Business

The Oswego County Department of Motor Vehicles and County Records Center on East River Road will remain open for business over the next several weeks as contractors begin the demolition of the old Oswego County jail. County Clerk Michael C. Backus said parking spots on the north side of the “old jail” building will be restricted while the building is being demolished. The demolition project is expected to begin Oct. 20 and continue through late November.

Legislators Hear About ‘Great Things’ At CCC’s Fulton Campus

“There is some exciting news at the Fulton campus. There are some great things happening there,” CCC Interim President Gregory DeCinque told members of the Oswego County Legislature Thursday afternoon. They are forming several community partnerships he pointed out. Some of their partners include the YMCA, BOCES and the city of Fulton. “It reduces duplication. It allows us to partner with mission appropriate organizations and some very, very good things are starting to happen,” DeCinque said.

Central Square Woman arrested on Sex Abuse Charges

On September 18, State Police in Fulton arrested Crystal M. West, 30, from Central Square, for one count of Criminal Sex Act 2nd, two counts of Sexual Abuse 3rd and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. West is accused of engaging in sexual conduct with a 14-year-old girl on more than occasion in the towns of Hastings and Mexico.

Live broadcast to make case for supporting SUNY Oswego

ESPN anchor Steve Levy, a 1987 graduate of SUNY Oswego, will join college President Deborah F. Stanley for a live online broadcast of “The Tomorrow Show,” the official kickoff of an unprecedented $40 million campaign for SUNY Oswego on Oct. 16. The show, at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 16, will launch the public phase of “With Passion and Purpose: The Campaign for Oswego.” Students will produce the broadcast, which will highlight Oswego’s faculty and students.
