Group Shines Light on Lighthouse Restoration Project

Members of the Common Council and public received an update Monday night as to the on-going project to save the Port City’s historic West Pierhead Lighthouse. Several hundred manhours of work have been performed on the Oswego landmark just this year. The restoration project will continue and hopefully in the near future, tours will be offered at the lighthouse.

Oswego Home Damaged By Fire

UPDATE: The fire investigation is still in the preliminary stages, but the fire does not appear to be suspicious at this time.
The Oswego Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire early Nov. 3 at 124 Erie St. One occupant was home at the time of the fire, just after 4 a.m., and was able to escape without injury. The home did have working smoke alarms that alerted the resident. No injuries were reported.

Oswego County Clerk Michael C. Backus is warning property owners of two recent direct mail scams involving deeds and local property tax records. Backus said a city of Oswego resident recently received letters from two different businesses that offered to provide a copy of the homeowner’s deed and “property profile.
