A second fatal MVA this week has claimed the life of a Pennellville woman. According to state police, Barbara Weakley died Wednesday as a result of a crash on State Route 49 shortly after 5 p.m. Her husband, Eugene, was driving. He is reportedly in critical condition.
The Oswego County Clerk’s Office said Tuesday (Sept. 30) that they are working with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles to address the issue of delamination or peeling of older license plates.
“Customers who come into our motor vehicle offices to replace their peeling plates will receive a replacement set at no cost,” said Oswego County Clerk Michael C. Backus. “The state is waiving the plate and transaction fees for this issue, effective immediately.”
The businesses and schools that built Fulton are featured in the Fulton Public Library’s second memoir book project, and its local authors gathered Thursday to celebrate. Book orders can be placed by calling or visiting the Fulton Public Library.
SUNY Oswego has received a $2.88 million federal grant to improve college completion rates in Upstate New York. Oswego’s grant is one of 24 awards announced Sept. 30 under the U.S. Department of Education’s First in the World Program, which seeks to spur innovation in higher education aimed at helping more students access college and complete a degree. Working with Onondaga Community College, Mohawk Valley Community College and On Point for College, Oswego will target more than a thousand underrepresented and underprepared students who stand to benefit from higher education.

State Route 3 between Route 8 and Rathburn Road remained closed as of midnight as State Troopers were still on the accident scene. By 11 p.m. tow truck operators began pulling the unrecognizable Honda Civic and overturned FedEx Ground truck from nearly 3 feet of water along the north side of Route 3.
The drivers of a FedEx truck and a passenger vehicle were killed Monday afternoon in a head-on crash in Granby. The passenger in the car is reportedly in critical condition at a Syracuse hospital. The cause of the crash is still under investigation

Fulton city leaders have scheduled a legislative workshop for next week to discuss the hotly debated issue of food truck vendors at Bull Head Point. The meeting will be held Monday, Oct. 6 in the Council Chambers and is slated to begin at 6 p.m.
