Oswego Council Eyes Closing Sheldon Beach During Harborfest

At its meeting Monday night, the Physical Services Committee considered a resolution that would prevent the destructive revelry that occurred at Sheldon Beach during Harborfest 2013 from happening again next month. Councilor Michael Todd requested discussion regarding closing Sheldon Beach during Harborfest. That type of behavior shouldn’t be allowed there, he said, adding that the city’s police department and emergency services are already stretched thin during the end of July festival.

Fulton’s Ice Cream Cruise-In Owner Hopes For Soft Opening

After a few tweaks to the ice cream machines this week Sweet Inspirations – Fulton’s drive-in ice cream and food joint, which hosts the original Saturday cruise night – will be open again for business. “They’re coming on Monday to get the ice cream machines up and running,” new owner Kevin Niver told Oswego County Today on Sunday (June 15.) “We hope to have a soft opening this weekend, serving ice cream for the first few weeks until we get everyone up and trained.”

Submerged Car May Belong To Local Woman Missing 17 Years

In what could be the first solid lead since the 1996 disappearance of a local woman, Oswego City Police identified the vehicle pulled from the Oswego River a few hundred yards south of Lock 3 in Fulton as an early 1990’s model, red, four-door Toyota Corolla LE.
Janice Growe, one of Carol Larsen Wood’s older sisters, told Oswego County Today, “The Oswego police came back here this evening to say that they’re 99 percent sure it’s my sister’s car, and there are human remains in it.”

Motor Vehicle Located in Oswego River, Removed from the water

BREAKING NEWS: The vehicle was removed from the river this afternoon. It is an early 1990s model, red colored, four door, Toyota Corolla LE. The vehicle did not have registration plates affixed to it nor has it been positively identified at this time as to its registered owner. Additionally located and removed with the vehicle are, what have tentatively been identified as human remains.
