The Oswego High School Top 100 students were honored for the twenty-fifth consecutive year. For a quarter of a century, the Oswego Rotary Club has presented recognition to the Oswego High School academic elite. Nearly 400 people packed the Oswego High School Dining Hall for the annual “Top 100” dinner.

In an effort to help protect people in Central New York from the deadly EEE virus, State Senator Patty Ritchie has teamed up with the Oswego County Department of Health and SUNY Oswego to create an educational video to teach the public about the dangers of EEE.

Paddlers will have a chance to glimpse sections of the old canal June 21 in the Oswego “Rock the Locks” Paddlefest. The event gives paddlers of all ages and abilities the opportunity to paddle sections of the river and through the locks as a group, followed by food and music at the Lock 7 park in Oswego.

In what could be the first solid lead since the 1996 disappearance of a local woman, Oswego City Police identified the vehicle pulled from the Oswego River a few hundred yards south of Lock 3 in Fulton as an early 1990’s model, red, four-door Toyota Corolla LE.
Janice Growe, one of Carol Larsen Wood’s older sisters, told Oswego County Today, “The Oswego police came back here this evening to say that they’re 99 percent sure it’s my sister’s car, and there are human remains in it.”

BREAKING NEWS: The vehicle was removed from the river this afternoon. It is an early 1990s model, red colored, four door, Toyota Corolla LE. The vehicle did not have registration plates affixed to it nor has it been positively identified at this time as to its registered owner. Additionally located and removed with the vehicle are, what have tentatively been identified as human remains.

Merlyn Fuller, known to visitors at the Sterling Renaissance Festival as Merry Mischief, has recently published her first book – Fairy Tales & Horror Stories: A Memoir, recalling her North Country childhood and her counter-cultural adulthood. Her music and a book reading will take place June 14 at Fulton’s Arts in the HeART Gallery, at 47 S. First St., across from the city’s gazebo.
