Hannibal Implements Healthy Changes In School Lunches

According to Debbie Richardson, Hannibal School District’s food service coordinator, the government’s new standards set specific nutritional requirements on grains, fruits and vegetables, sodium levels, calorie levels and sugar grams. As a result of these new requirements, Hannibal School District began implementing changes to the menus in 2013 and will gradually continue to make changes over a five-year period, Richardson said.

Fulton Police, Oswego County Stop DWI Hold Mock DWI Event

GRB mock dwi crashEvery other year, the event is held for GRB’s juniors and seniors just before the Junior Prom and Senior Dinner Dance to warn them of the real dangers of driving drunk. The added danger of texting while driving was also a factor in the mock crash. The event, which commenced at about 8 a.m., simulated a fatal head-on drunk driving crash involving real students as actors.

Council Approves Ambulance Lease After Lengthy Debate

Mayor Tom Gillen cast the deciding vote Thursday night to approve the city’s fire department leasing an ambulance for the next 60 days. The vote was 3-3 with Second Ward Councilor Mike Myers excused. Following the 60 days, the council will review the fire department’s revenue and overtime as a result of the ambulance service prior to making any firm decision regarding the service.

Oswego Police Arrest Mexico Couple On Felony Drug Charges

handcuffsOn Wednesday at approximately 5:30 p.m., investigators with the Oswego City Police Department’s Anti-Crime Team (ACT) detained two individuals at 437 State Route 104 in the city of Oswego. This was a result of the Oswego City Police Department’s continued efforts to combat the possession and trafficking of illegal drugs. Mexico residents Joshua M. Sprague and Wendi M. Czirr-Sprague were arrested.

Soccer Program Set for Children with Disabilities

What started out last year as a Girl Scout Silver Project by then seventh grader Claudia Chetney, has now taken off under the direction of Chetney, many other young soccer players and coaches affiliated with Oswego Youth Soccer Association.
