Since then, Earth Day has been celebrated each year on April 22. Today, Earth Day has spread to numerous countries across the globe. Oswego County’s Earth Week is set April 25 to May 4.

On April 3, the Fulton Police Department, along with law enforcement officers around the state, will participate in an Operation Safe Stop day. During “Safe Stop,” police officers are in marked patrol units enforcing the New York State Traffic Law which requires all vehicles to stop for stopped school busses with their red lights flashing.

Fulton Public Library Seeks Voters’ Support to Survive

The city of Fulton slashed its public library funding this year and now school tax payers will decide if they want to continue supporting the institution as trustees work to restore revenue by asking voters to establish a school district public library.
Alluding to the past five years of city budget cuts, Fulton City Library Board of Trustees President Marian Stanton said, “We haven’t had stable funding. When push comes to shove, the library gets shoved.”

Oswego Fire Department Units Respond To Oswego Town Blaze

Firefighters battle a house fire in Oswego Town on Wednesday.Early Wednesday afternoon, the Oswego Fire Department responded mutual aid to a structure fire on Franklin Avenue in the Town of Oswego. Fire officials stated that one person was treated for smoke inhalation by Menter Ambulance and there were no firefighter injuries reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

2014 County Rabies Clinics Get Under Way

Sunshine, sporting a warm pink jacket, was one of the first pets to get a shot Wednesday night.The county DPW garage in Scriba went to the dogs Wednesday – with a few felines thrown in for good measure. It was the Oswego County Health Department’s first rabies clinic of season. “We like to see a lot of people take advantage of the rabies clinics,” said Chris Williams, senior public health sanitarian at Oswego County Health Department. “Rabies is still out there. When you least expect it, it pops up.”

Fulton Driver Crashes Vehicle, Arrested For DWAI-Drugs

Walsh reports that deputies have arrested a Fulton man for Driving While his Ability was Impaired by Drugs following a crash in the Town of Clay. Kevin Lagray drove off the roadway and through the woods for approximately 40 yards until his vehicle came to rest after striking a tree, according to the report.
