Fulton Presents 2013-2014 Budget to the Public

The proposed budget is $65,259,100, and is a 4.6% increase over the current budget. This proposal also includes a 1.5% increase to the local tax levy. “It takes a lot of forethought to make sure the budget is efficient and fair for our students’ education and fair for members of the community,” the superintendent said.

‘Susan B’ performed at Oswego Courthouse in honor of Law Day

Wilkinson as the narrator.On May 3, individuals involved in law in Oswego County ranging from judges to lawyers to law secretaries gathered in the Oswego County Courthouse to recognize Law Day. The afternoon was organized by Oswego County Bar Association President Kristin Shanley. Members of Oswego Players took to the front of the courtroom to stage an adaptation of “Susan B,” a play by Gary Paul Lehmann.

Group helps clean up Battle Island area

On Saturday, May 4, 11 local paddlers participated in Canal Clean Sweep for the historic Battle Island area of the Oswego River. Very little littler was found along the shoreline. Stopping to view and explore Battle Island, an abandoned and deteriorated campsite was discovered.

Oswego Man Charged In Connection With Burglary

At about 6 a.m. today (May 8), members of the Oswego City Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division arrested 31-year-old Kevin J. Ridlon of 59 W. Fourth St.. Oswego, in regards to a burglary that had occurred on Sunday April 28 at 7 Third Ave., commonly referred to as “C’s Market.”

Former Catholic Church Gets New Life – Parish Antiques and Country Market Opens May 18

Owner Cherie Stooks has assembled a large selection of dishes, including Harker Pottery, Depression glass and Mar-crest old-fashioned stoneware at the Parish Antiques and Country Market in the old St. Anne’s Church in Parish. The store will open May 18.Visitors can browse through a large selection of furniture, kitchenware and pottery, prints, and vintage outdoor items, and even the building will see a new use when the Parish Antiques and Country Market opens to the public on May 18. Owner Cherie Stooks has spent the past several months filling the former St. Anne’s Catholic Church with a large selection of antiques ranging from the Victorian period to the 1960s and 1970s.
