County To Federal Lawmakers: Get Back To Work
The Oswego County Legislature passed a memorializing resolution urging the US House of Representatives to get back to work and pass a spending bill.
Youth Bureau Will Award Mini Grants for Youth Projects
Not for profit community organizations can apply for up to $1,000 for activities for youth during hours when school is not in session. Projects must be completed by the end of 2013 and provide a direct service to children and families in Oswego County.
Gerrit Smith Author To Visit Oswego Library
At 6 p.m. on November 6 The Oswego Public Library is excited for Norman Dann’s visit to the library! Norman lives in Peterboro on the Gerrit Smith Estate and is the author of Practical Dreamer: Gerrit Smith & the Crusade for Social Reform and When We Get to Heaven: Runaway Slaves on the Road to Peterboro.
Child Protection Advisory Council Launches Web Page
The Oswego County Child Protection Advisory Council has developed a web page on the Oswego County government web site to provide information and resources for parents and community members. The site includes links to information about signs of physical abuse, tips for assessing children at risk, parenting tips, and information for mandated reporters. State Police request public assistance in locating Missing Teen
UPDATE: (Alexandria Bay, NY – October 15, 2013) – Scott Fancher has been located in good health and is back with relatives.
The New York State Police are attempting to locate Scott M. Fancher Jr., 15, from the village of Alexandria Bay, New York. Fancher was last seen October 10.
2013 Edition of Bucfest Full Of Sun, Fun and Success
The Oswego Buc Boosters hosted their biggest Homecoming celebration yet at their sixth annual BucFest held on September 28 at Oswego High School’s Joe Wilber Field. It was a beautiful, sunny fall day for the festivities. Students of all ages, parents, and community members participated in the many games and school spirit building activities and helped cheer the Oswego Bucs football team on to a Homecoming victory.
St. Francis Snips Ribbon, Ready To Welcome Residents
Construction at Oswego’s first assisted living program residence wrapped up recently and it will soon be welcoming its first residents. St. Francis Commons is located immediately behind Little Lukes Childcare Center and adjacent to Charles E Riley Elementary School. St. Francis Commons Assisted Living Residence in Oswego invites the community to an open house, taking place October 12 and 13 from 1 – 4 p.m. each day.
