Board member Lynda Sereno resigned her seat on the board following the board’s vote Monday night regarding designation of the official newspapers for the district. She also cited other concerns that prevented her from continuing “on with the fight and the vision that I had.”
City police and fire personnel are on the scene of a two-vehicle crash that happened around 7 p.m. today (July 1). The accident occurred at East Albany Street, near Shampine Drive.

Oswego weather has been known as somewhat of a loose cannon and unpredictable. But, Mother Nature wasn’t able to keep the kayaks out of the water at the “Rock the Lock” Oswego Paddlefest this weekend. Paddlers were set to launch from Wright’s Landing at noon and were greeted with a heavy rainfall all morning. That didn’t scare off kayakers though.
The Oswego County Drug Treatment Court program recently had its largest graduation class ever. This is a sure sign that the program is being successful in helping people overcome drug addiction, according to the organizers.
After providing care to the community for more than 52 years, Joseph Edmund Mather, M.D., F.A.C.O.G. obstetrician/gynecologist of Oswego County OB-GYN, P.C., has announced he will retire at the end of June. Dr. Mather Sr. has been providing women’s health care in Oswego since 1961 while maintaining privileges at Oswego Hospital until his retirement.
The Oswego “Rock the Locks” Paddlefest Committee decided Friday, June 28, to move the paddling event to the Oswego Harbor for the safety of the paddlers. “Due to flood warnings, debris in the river and strong currents from recent storms, we decided to move the event to the Oswego Harbor,” said Jackie Sheffield, associate director of the Oswego YMCA. “We are asking paddlers to meet at Wright’s Landing in Oswego instead of paddling through the locks.”
