Interstate 81 Slowed As Troopers Investigate Tractor Trailer DWI Accident

The New York State Police in Pulaski investigated a two-vehicle minor personal injury accident that occurred on Interstate 81 northbound in the town of Richland at approximately noon June 21. Both drivers were taken to Upstate Hospital, Syracuse, and treated for minor injuries. One of them was charged with DWI.

Oswego Council To Consider Culvert Work

At its meeting this week, the Administrative Services Committee recommended turning a “lake” back into a “pond.” Tony Leotta, city engineer, and Mike Smith, DPW commissioner, requested the purchasing agent seek proposals to clean out the culvert, beneath the approach to East Seneca Street Bridge to correct the flooding problem. The existing 24-inch diameter culvert under the easterly approach to the East Seneca Street bridge is plugged and is creating a large “lake” on the property between Route 104 and East Seneca Street adjacent to the CSX Railroad, Leotta said.

She and her husband now own Happy Tails K-9 Training and Agility Center at 1500 County Route 8 in Fulton. Waas’ passion for animals doesn’t end when she locks the gate to the training area. On Sunday, from noon to 4 p.m. at Happy Tails, Waas and the local SPCA will be hosting a Pet Adoption Day.

GENIUS Olympiad Brings World’s Brightest To Oswego

The event is an international competition for high school students who’ve completed projects to solve real-world environmental issues. This year’s Olympiad is the largest in the event’s short history with more than 550 participants from across the United States and the world. The awards ceremony is open to the public and is scheduled for Friday at 1:15 p.m. in the Campus Center Arena.
