The Renaissance Charter School project has been revamped over the last few months. Now, organizers are ready to give the project another shot. “We are carrying on with the charter school application,” said Rodica Ieta. “We will hold an open public meeting Thursday in the Community Room of the Oswego Public Library from 5 – 6 p.m.”
Plans are under way for the 32nd Annual Memorial Day Salute event to be held May 24 and 25 at the Fulton Community Center. The theme for the celebration will be “America, United We Stand.”
Mayor Tom Gillen officially proclaimed Feb. 1 and 2 as Warm Up Oswego Weekend, saying, “Oswego is known for its spectacular winters.” Warm up Oswego is a two-day festival that includes a bonfire on Feb. 1; snow sculpture contest, wine, chocolate and cheese event Feb. 2, Performers throughout the day and fireworks at night Feb. 2.
The Fulton City School District will host a screening of the Public Broadcasting System Frontline program entitled “Drop Out Nation.” The screening will take place on February 6 at 6 p.m.
On Saturday at approximately 9:45pm the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on County Route 176 in the town of Scriba.
In an effort to help the public, a website and hotline have been established to answer all questions about the New York SAFE Act. The Governor’s Office has established http://www.nysafeact.com/ The New York State Police have established a hotline 1-855-LAW-GUNS.
On Friday at about 6:16 p.m. the Oswego City Police Department’s Anti -Crime Team executed a search warrant at 106 East 10th St, Apartment #1 Oswego. As a result of that search police located and seized two .22 caliber rifles that had been previously reported stolen, and 1.3 grams of crack cocaine.
At approximately 7:06 p.m. Thursday, the city of Oswego Police Department was dispatched to 50 W. Bridge St., Paura’s Liquors, in regards to a robbery complaint. The suspect reportedly stole multiple bottles of liquor and while attempting to flee, forced a 59-year-old woman to the ground and struck her.
