Oswego council committees recommended that some dangerous buildings in the city be demolished. They also plan to seek alternate means of funding the work in the future. Various means of holding property owners are also being investigated.
Although it has been almost three weeks since Hurricane Sandy hit, the need for relief remains great. Many people still have no home, no heat, no food or basic necessities

For almost three decades, employees at the Oswego County Department of Social Services have been helping families in need during the holiday season. The annual Children’s Christmas Fund has grown from a toy giveaway initially aimed at foster children to include more than 1,600 children in 600 families last Christmas.
Major Rodney Campbell, Troop D Commander said, “State Police have seen a huge increase in methamphetamine labs particularly in the northern counties of Troop D. These labs are dangerous and costly, both in terms of dollars and public safety. We can’t stress enough the importance of the public’s ability to identify these labs and dumpsites should they come across one due to the dangers of the chemicals used.”
The Oswego County Office for the Aging is warning seniors to be aware of phone scams where the resident is asked to wire money to help a relative who is “in trouble.”
Prior to regular voting action, the members of the board recognized the service of veteran Oswego High School Social Studies teacher Patricia Runeari. She has served the educational needs of Oswego’s students for nearly three decades. The board accepted her retirement which will be effective on January 28, 2013.
You can’t spell champion without FSB. Well, yes, you can. But not that often when you’re talking about the Trinity Catholic School Corporate Spelling Bee. Fulton Savings Bank recently out-spelled seven other teams to capture the crown.
