As of Jan. 1, 2013, the mayor’s proposed spending plan will become the official city budget for the new year. Councilors voted 7-0 Monday night to approve Mayor Tom Gillen’s budget. Fifteen years ago Tracy Doyle saw an opportunity to help local children in need. After learning about local people who were down on their luck and had children who were not expecting anything for Christmas, he decided to do something to help. “We don’t do it for anything other than we can help people who don’t have much,” Doyle said.
Every year since he has fixed up old bicycles and donated them to kids in need.
