Salvation Army Needs Your Help To Help Others
The holiday season is building up steam for its big finish at the end of this month. For many, Christmas and New Year’s Eve are two of the most joyous times of the year.
However, in these tough economic times, that isn’t true for everyone. The Salvation Army is in need of volunteers to ensure its Red Kettle Program is able to help those in need.
Upper Level of Midtown Plaza’s parking closed for renovations
Mayor Thomas W. Gillen announced that the upper level of the Midtown Plaza parking garage, located on East Bridge Street between East First and East Second streets, has been closed as of today’s date (Dec. 5) for renovations.

Some parents feel the school district isn’t doing enough, nor is it providing them with information, they said. “As a school district, we adhere to our Code of Conduct and provide appropriate discipline for violations,” the superintendent said. “We are restricted as a school district to further discuss any information of a specific student under the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act.”

Volney Beat Syracuse-area Sites for Bread Company’s Expansion
The Canadian company Teti Bakery targeted the Syracuse area for its first American plant and Volney came up the winner.
The company plans to open by mid-2013 and employ 63 people within 3 years, according to Mike Treadwell, executive director of Operation Oswego County, the county’s economic development agency.
