The conference was designed to bring women of all ages and backgrounds together to explore their place and power within their professions. And with six dynamic speakers on tap, attendees weren’t disappointed.

The American Red Cross Central New York Region is expected to send more than 20 volunteers to New York City, New Jersey or other areas along the East Coast that were devastated by Hurricane Sandy. The volunteers will be notified tonight and leave for their assignments by Wednesday afternoon.

The Oswego High School Yearbook staff recently attended the Empire State Scholastic Press Association Fall Conference at Syracuse University, where they attended a variety of workshops, as well as received a number of awards related to the 2011-2012 edition of The Paradox.

The crash on State Route 31 claimed the life of a Phoenix man.

The Oswego County area seems to have missed the brunt of Monday’s windstorm. Several trees and power lines were downed. And close to 2,400 people are still without power.

The shutdown was caused by an electrical grid disturbance that caused the unit’s output breakers to open.  When the unit’s electrical output breakers open, there is nowhere to “push” or transmit the power and the unit is appropriately designed to shut down under these conditions.
