Students at the newly formed junior-senior high school in Oswego are doing very well, according to the principal. The board is looking at options to allow the 7-9 school to continue to grow into a 7-12 school. Or it could decide to restrict its growth keeping it as a 7-9 school in the portable site behind Oswego Middle School.
In a downstate community silenced by Superstorm Sandy, the sound one is most likely to hear this week is of chainsaws tearing through downed trees. Two Fulton men are on the business ends of those saws.

During the course of their on-going investigations into illegal drug activity in the city of Oswego, members of the Oswego City Police Department’s Anti-Crime Team developed information regarding an illegal marihuana grow in the town of Palermo.
UPDATE: On November 6, the suspect in the November 4 larceny from Aldi’s was arrested by Oswego Police. On Sunday at about 11:14 a.m. Oswego Police responded to Aldi’s, 290 State Route 104, Oswego, regarding a male that had just stole an undisclosed amount of cash from their register and fled the store.
November 4, at approximately 9:53 p.m., FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant experienced an automatic reactor shutdown. The automatic reactor shutdown was as a result of a main turbine trip that occurred while regularly scheduled turbine testing was being performed.
Specialist Brett E. Gornewicz from Alden, Specialist Ryan P. Jayne from Campbell, and Staff Sgt. Dain T. Venne, from Port Henry, died of wounds suffered when their humvee was struck by an improvised explosive device. The three men were assigned to the 444th Engineer Company which is headquartered in Oswego.
“Seven weeks and millions of dollars later, each candidate has picked up a single point. What was a dead even race in September is still a dead even race three days before voters go to the polls,” said Siena College pollster Steven Greenberg.
The candidate for state senate also believes it is time to raise the minimum wage and is “a big proponent of campaign finance reform so that we can attract qualified candidates from our citizenry.”
