NYSAC Unveils Looming County Fiscal Crisis
The NYS Association of Counties updated projections that reveal an unsustainable county outyear fiscal gap. County leaders are signaling the alarm that looming multi-billion dollar budget deficits are being caused by state mandated programs, and therefore cannot be addressed solely through actions initiated locally.

Ritchie, Corrections Chair Meet With Local Sheriffs On Jail Crowding
Senator Patty Ritchie hosted a meeting with the Oswego, Jefferson and St. Lawrence county sheriffs, along with the Senate’s top expert on corrections and prison issues, to discuss the problem of state parole violators who are crowding county jails and costing local taxpayers millions of dollars in unreimbursed expenses.

State Police Investigating Fatal Crash in Geddes
State Police in Lysander are investigating a fatal two-car crash that occurred at 12:30 a.m. today (Oct. 15) on Interstate 690 in the Town of Geddes, Onondaga County. A Fulton man was involved and is in serious condition at a Syracuse hospital, according to police.
