There’s a deal on the table that could prevent a costly court fight and limit the damage to taxpayers from the closing of the Birds-Eye food processing plant in Fulton.
Fulton city lawmakers hold a special meeting Wednesday afternoon to consider accepting an offer worked out between Birds-Eye’s owner and Mayor Ron Woodward’s administration that would lower the taxes paid on the plant.
An alumnus who was the first in his family to have a passport and had his life changed by a study abroad experience through SUNY Oswego has made a generous gift to the college to pass on the opportunity of international experience to current and future students.

The accolades continue to roll in for a pair of life-saving Oswego teens. On Tuesday, they received one of the highest honors New York State can bestow on a civilian – the New York State Senate Liberty Medal. State Senator Patty Ritchie presented the prestigious medal to Julia and Michele Lavery.

The city’s billing database for water and sewer users is in need of review, the chamberlain said. It’s been in place since 2003. “There is a lot that’s happened to the database since 2003 and we want to make sure we get it accurate going forward,” she said.
The Oswego County Health Department is offering walk-in flu clinics for adults at the Nick Sterio Public Health Clinic, 70 Bunner St., Oswego weekdays from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m., beginning Oct. 3. No appointment is necessary.
