After nearly a year of planning a new Oswego High School mascot is expected to take to the sidelines in late September. Judy Queale-Dunsmoor, President of the Buccaneer Boosters, noted, “We started talking about this about a year ago. We hoped to increase school spirit and bring a professional image to the sidelines of our sports events and school assemblies.”
It’ll be milder and drier on Thursday.
The entertainment lineup has been released for the upcoming CNY Great Pumpkin Festival, being held Sept. 29 and 30 in Washington Square Park in Oswego.

The color and excitement of high school marching band competition will be on display Saturday in Oswego. The annual Oswego “Pageant of Champions” usually brings thousands of marching band fanatics to town and when the first band steps off the line at 6 p.m. a full house is expected to be involved in every move and note.
On September 14 and 15, the Oswego City Police Department deployed additional personnel to address quality of life concerns in residential neighborhoods.
This detail consisted of uniformed and plain clothes personnel. As a result of this effort, several arrests were made:

At this month’s Oswego County Legislature meeting, Emily Bradshaw spoke out on what she describes as ‘a nearly invisible’ problem – homelessness. Her quest is to have a shelter built to help those in need. In the meantime, she is collecting personal care items to make up personal care bags to hand out to the homeless at the DSS or OCO offices and in schools.
