The USTA Tennis Program teaches basic tennis skills and gives youth a chance to get outside and exercise, said the program’s coordinator. An “Olympics” was held to give them a chance to show off what they’ve learned.

A special meeting of the Oswego County Legislature has been called for Aug. 29 at noon in the Legislative Chambers of the Oswego County Office Building, 46 E. Bridge St. The purpose of the meeting is to schedule public hearings on proposed local laws regarding the synthetic drugs.

The Oswego County Health Department reports that West Nile virus was found in mosquitoes collected Aug. 7 near the Toad Harbor Swamp in West Monroe. The County was notified Aug. 20 by the New York State Department of Health of the positive mosquito sample.
