Good crowds, great music and a whole lot of fun was the signature for the Port City’s annual celebration. Even the weather cooperated after a while.
Where do I begin? When asked if I could cover Harborfest for this fine, online, publication, I jumped at the opportunity. I slipped on my flip-flops and headed out the door. I learned two things within 20 minutes of my arrival: 1 – Don’t wear flip-flops to Harborfest.
2 – Go to the bathroom as many times as possible before you leave the house.
The Oswego City Police Department would like the public to be on the look out for 21-year-old Jessica Elmer. She’s approximately 5’6” and 220 pounds with brown hair, and brown eyes. She was last seen July 24 walking on East Utica Street in Oswego wearing an Orange “SU” shirt, black pants, and black/white Adidas sneakers.
Thousands of people lined the shores of Lake Ontario on both the east and west sides of Oswego Saturday night to witness the Grucci Fireworks Spectacular presented by Entergy Nuclear.
Oswego Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the assault – 21-year-old Angel L. Lopez of Oswego
21-year-old Jordan M. Perkins of Syracuse
and a 16-year-old boy of Oswego
Miss Ronnie and Miss Andrea sat on a half empty lot laughing their way out of an unexpected mess. Their tent, all put together the night before was damaged by strong wind and weather the night before. “We were ready to head to Lowe’s and find ANYTHING,” Miss Andrea, owner of Hair Candy, said. “But the president of Harborfest is bringing us a new one. Isn’t that nice?”
At approximately 2:40 a.m. July 28 officers responded to the area of West Bridge Street between West Seventh Street and West eight Street for a reported fight. Upon arrival officers discovered that two victims had been assaulted by a large group of males.
One of the victims is currently being treated for serious head trauma.
The annual Children’s Parade is considered by many to be the official start of Harborfest. The parade, from West Park to Breitbeck, drew several hundred participants, from infants to teen-agers.
