It wasn’t quite a record on Tuesday, but it still was a lot hotter than average for July. The temperature hit 93 degrees during the afternoon; the record for July 17, however, is 98 set in 1876. It was the first 90 degree or warmer day since May 29, 2012, when it reached 90 degrees.
The preliminary data indicates the unit experienced a Turbine trip, but the exact
cause has not yet been identified, according to Jill Lyon, CENG – Nine Mile Point
Nuclear Station spokesperson.
The temperature reached 100 degrees only once officially in this area (July 1, 1878). Mr. Weatherman says some places today just might see triple digits.
Last week, some very special young guests arrived in Fulton. A group of youngsters, ages 6-18, will be spending a few weeks enjoying the summer weather of CNY thanks to the Fresh Air Fund. On Tuesday another small group of children will be arriving in Fulton to spend part of their summer vacations here.
Oswego County’s Senior Nutrition Program serves up to 600 seniors a day across the county. However, voluntary contributions to the program are down this year and there is concern that the agency may have to establish a waiting list or make other adjustments if contributions don’t pick up.
The Oswego County Sheriff’s Department alleges that Justin R. Crowe, 31, of 1175 County Route 11, West Monroe, was spotted at Central City Auto Parts in West Monroe after the business had closed on Saturday.
Police allege he was seen stealing auto parts.

A group of activists is undertaking a month-long No More Fukushimas Peace Walk around Lake Ontario to call attention to the presence of what they say are “dangerous, aging and polluted nuclear reactors (16 active and 2 shut down) around that ecologically precious body of water.”

One of the emergency notification sirens surrounding the nuclear power plants in Scriba inadvertently sounded at about 5:40 p.m. today, July 13, due to a malfunction. There is NO emergency at the three nuclear power plants in Oswego County.
