Council Paves The Way For Summer Events In Port City
Approval was granted for a request from Shane Broadwell, Tri-Oswego Triathlon race director, for use of several city properties for the Tri-Oswego 2012 Triathlon on June 16 and 17. A request by the YMCA to use of Breitbeck Park and the McCrobie Civic Center for a Sept. 8 event – Dragon Boat Community Festival – was also OK’d.

Oswego Police Investigating Serious Car-Pedestrian Accident – Victim Has Died, Police Say
UPDATE: The victim struck by a vehicle at the intersection of East Seventh and Bridge Streets in the city of Oswego earlier today has been pronounced dead at the Oswego Hospital, as a result of injuries suffered in the accident.
Police say an 80-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of East Bridge and East Seventh streets.

Council Says ‘No’ To Hotel Zone Change Request
The people spoke and the council listened Monday night. The Common Council voted 3-4 against a zone change for 134 and 140 E. 13th St., from R-3 Residential to B-1 Neighborhood Business. Chris LaBarge sought the zone change in order to purchase the property and build a hotel there.
However, nearly a dozen residents of the area spoke out against the plan for an hour at the council’s public session.
OHS Hockey Teams Wins Section III Championship
The Oswego High School boys’ hockey team could not have picked a better time to have one of the best games of the year. On Saturday, at the Utica Auditorium the Oswego High School Bucs dominated Skaneateles with a 5-0 win enroute to the Section III Division II Championships.
