Members of the Common Council on Tuesday night began going over the proposed 2012 budget department by department – line by line. It’s a tight budget, Mayor Randy Bateman said. It holds the line on spending and there shouldn’t be any tax increase, he added.

Council To Consider Set Time For Noise Ordinance Variances
Port City bars that receive a variance to the noise ordinance to host outdoor live entertainment will have to tone it down earlier. The Planning and Development Committee sent a recommendation to the full council Monday night that would restrict the hours local bars could allow outside bands to play.

Harborfest 24 In The Books – Countdown Starts For 25th Anniversary In 2012
Harborfest drew to a close on Sunday after four days of music, foods and various other activities filling up the streets of the Port City. Harborfest Executive Director Tom Van Schaack was pleased that the weather maintained favorable throughout the weekend. “There was good weather most of the week, except for a little rain on Friday morning. Otherwise, it was nice days for a change. We had nice weather Thursday and Friday night for the concerts and last night for the fireworks,” Van Schaack said.
